Nevada reports demerit points that are associated with each type of moving violation. Depending on the violation, your insurance may go up. Speak to an attorney about what options you may have to reduce or eliminate the demerit points associated with our violation. If you get 12 demerit points in a 12-month period, your license may be suspended as well. Your driving record can cost you higher insurance premiums for years to come, so speak to an attorney on what can be done to avoid this.
Some traffic citations may be treated as a criminal matter as well. If this happens contact an attorney immediately.
If you fail to appear on the appearance date on the citation the court will issue a failure to appear bench warrant. When this happens the court will report this to the DMV and the DMV will then suspend your driver’s license. This also places you at risk of being arrested and brought back to the jurisdiction on the warrant to appear before a judge. An attorney can file a motion to quash the bench warrant on your behalf. Once your warrant has been quashed, your attorney can pick up a FTA clearance letter that can be presented to the DMV to reinstate your driver’s license.
